Herman Broers is to become the new managing director of Nederlands Loodswezen B.V. He succeeds Willem Bentinck, who will step down as managing director on 1 June 2022.

Nederlands Loodswezen B.V. (NLBV) is an organisation that focuses specifically on supporting pilots in carrying out their profession. After eight years, Willem is handing over the reins to Herman, who was appointed by the meeting of shareholders (all registered pilots in the Netherlands) on 19 April. Herman Broers has been a pilot in the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region since 2003 and was chairman of that region from 2009 to 2013. He will now focus on managing the 450 employees of NLBV. The NLBV manages the fleet that takes pilots to and from the sea and is responsible for collecting pilotage fees. In addition to his work as managing director, Herman will remain registered in the pilots' register and continue to carry out his piloting work at regular intervals. In this way, he will keep in touch with the work floor and the pilot's profession. A nice combination.

Herman Broers: "I am looking forward to the wonderful new challenge in this special organisation that is so close to my heart. The challenges we face in the coming years are numerous; the economic developments, the sustainability of the organisation, the continuous programme of fleet renewal and the innovative developments in the maritime field. It will be a great job that we will complete with all employees and pilots.

Willem Bentinck: "I am handing over the baton with confidence and will continue to be closely involved with the Loodswezen as a pilot. It was an honour to be the director of this wonderful organisation for eight years."
