#DangerousLadders on Facebook
About this group

This group is to help spread the campaign to improve the safety of pilot ladders and pilot transfer arrangements.

Every survey says approx. 20% of arrangements are non-compliant. If they're non-compliant, they're not safe so they shouldn't be used!

Let's reduce the 20% by engagement, education and enforcement.

Video #Dangerousladders Trailer

The #DangerousLadders campaign is a global initiative to improve the safety of pilot transfer arrangements and in particular the safe rigging of pilot ladders. As part of this campaign, Fidra Films have developed a series of informational and educational films to illustrate the dangers and also best practice.

Generously funded by the sponsors below, all of whom have an interest in the safety of maritime pilots, the series aims to reduce the incidence of non-compliant ladder arrangements, something that pilots face every day of their working lives.

Anyone with an interest in the subject of pilot transfer safety should join the #DangerousLadders Facebook group, where there is continual discussion and educational advice from the global pilotage community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/83176...

The development, production and distribution of this series is generously sponsored by:
DNV GL
GasLog
InterTanko
Northern Marine
PTR Holland
The Standard Club
Stolt Tankers

With support from the pilots at ABP Southampton and a vessel location supplied by Tarmac.

Opinion Piloting, Autonomous Vessels, AI, and the coffee making machine

by Captain Ricardo Caballero "Themaritimepilot" - published

I am not a computer savvy. My knowledge in programming and robotics and those sort of things is nil. I get lost in the sea of social media and easily entangle myself in the web. All I have done for the last 25 years or so is to pilot ships through the Panama Canal. However, during the last couple of years I have done my best to catch up with technology, since it has enhanced our possibilities and improved safety in our field. But still, I have to admit that I am way behind the new guys in this important issue.
