published on 21 November 2022 229 -

Work at the heart of New Zealand’s shipping industry.

That’s both literally and figuratively – because as the country’s most strategically situated intermodal hub, CentrePort is at the heart of all road, rail, domestic and international shipping networks.

CentrePort is a major part of New Zealand’s supply chain, providing critical infrastructure and transport solutions to the regional and national economy.  If you are after a rewarding career within an interesting environment where exciting changes unfold, look no further.  We’re developing and regenerating CentrePort – and you get to be part of it!  If you’re an experienced Pilot with a minimum of five years pilotage experience and preferably ASD tug experience, we’re keen to get you on board.

As a Pilot/Marine Officer, you will find yourself playing a central role in the safe management of our harbour.  You’ll be dealing with the port’s valued customers so strong communication skills and customer focus will be key, as well as the ability to identify and provide tailored solutions as needed. Your success will be defined by your positive attitude, strong technical skills and commitment to safety and quality management to ensure you’re able to handle any challenges that come your way.

With visits from a wide range of vessels, there will be a varied workload to look forward to.  You’ll also be working with floating plant that is the pride of our operation, with a modern Camarc pilot launch and two Damen ASD 2411 tugs.

You’ll join a workplace with a team environment. We offer competitive remuneration and benefits as well as an equal time-on/time-off roster, assistance with relocation expenses may also be available to you. We have life and disability and income protection insurances, free car parking available on site, wellbeing initiatives, discounts with partner organisations and learning and development opportunities. We all take huge pride in our work, our Port, and the Wellington region, and we all work together to make it the best it can be.

CentrePort supports an environment of diversity and inclusion.  We are committed to equal employment opportunities and therefore, encourage applications from different backgrounds. To ensure our recruitment process is fully accessible, please let us know if you require any support or have any accessibility requirement.

Please note CentrePort is an Alcohol and Drug free workplace, pre-employment testing is part of our recruitment process. You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this role.

Please note we will be reviewing applications as they come and will progress through the recruitment process until the position is filled.
