What’s the role?

The Prelude FLNG facility is approximately 450 km North East of Broome, in Australian Commonwealth Ocean waters of 250 meters depth. This position shall ensure safe, efficient and professional maritime competency is exercised and delivered during the operations associated with the management of LNGC/LPGC/Condensate tankers programmed to off-take hydrocarbons from the Prelude FLNG, whilst ensuring that the requirements of Shell’s Transportation Manual Maritime Standards (TMMS) are upheld and in accordance with the guidance contained in the Marine Process Model.

Some of the key accountabilities of the role are;
Ensure the safe and efficient execution of LNGC/LPGC/Condensate tanker manoeuvring (pilotage), through the direct application of high-level communication, ship handling skills, local knowledge and general marine expertise
Safe oversight of mooring and unmooring (side-by-side and tandem) operations.
Ensure all Ship / Terminal interface operations are conducted in accordance with industry guidance (e.g. ISGOTT / SIGTTO) and Shell standards as appropriate. Ensure the condensate tandem mooring hawser and transfer hose is deployed/recovered, connected / disconnected from the off-take tanker to sea level in accordance with the PTOM.
Manage the safe transfer of personnel between Prelude and support vessels / tankers.
Ensure terminal / LNGC / LPGC / Condensate tanker interface activities are monitored to ensure safety and compliance whilst delivering against the agreed Manual of Permitted Operations (MOPO) and environmental parameters.
To support Prelude emergency response teams on marine related incidents or issues and provide input and training as appropriate to any maritime related emergency response exercise.
Assist as appropriate with terminal compliance and internal HSSE audits, industry and site self-assessments, and take the lead in managing the action items as related to the maritime aspects.
Promoting a positive approach to HSSE in all aspects of Marine Operations activities by demonstration of personal commitment to HSSE through the application of safety critical behaviours.
Manage cargo quantity and quality onboard the off-take tanker, reporting actual/potential issues and possible rectification measures.
Coach, Mentor and Report on maritime support staff assigned in support roles to self


What we need from you

As the successful candidate for the role you should have Class I Master Mariner Certificate of Competency, ideally with ship handling and tanker experience.

Crucial to the success of this role is the ability to work collaboratively across multi-functional teams and interface with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, based in various locations, and being able to work autonomously, adapting to changing & competing priorities.
