Job Description: Pilot Boat Master

Permanent, Full time, 48 hours
Here at HMNB Faslane in Clyde we’re looking for a Pilot Boat Master to join our us at our Faslane site. The onsite Serco team performs a variety of tasks that centre around the towing of international military vessels along with the transportation of passengers and other assets. In short, we help to keep allied navies operational.
You will be responsible for taking command of the operation and management of the vessel in a professional, effective and economical manner to Flag State and Class Standards. As the Pilot Boat Master you will supervise staff for all activities carried out by the vessel and take charge of a bridge watch in accordance with STCW 95 Regs with regard to the International Regulations for the Prevention of collisions at sea (COLREGS). A key part of this role is to Assist with VOPs, Risk Assessment and COSHH registers. You must always ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by directing vessel’s resources to meet the customer’s requirements.

What you need to do the job:
The successful candidate must hold an MCA Boat Master or equivalent License; with a preference for Tier 1 Level 2. We are looking for proven experience in Leadership and Developing People, Communicating and Influencing. You will be carrying out a variety of tasks such as analysing and using evidence, Improvement and change management. It is imperative that you are qualified with an Elementary Medical First Aid Aboard with Cat C endorsement or higher. You must have proven experience of Fire Fighting and will have had Health and Safety Training. Other qualifications we are looking for include Basic Sea Survival, CPSC, ENG 1 Medical and a VHF License. It would be desirable to have knowledge of Manual Handling and Risk Assessing.

£34,610- £39, 801 per annum
