The Maritime Pilots Institute is the premier training facility for River Pilots employing a mix of virtual and real world facilities. Located in Covington Louisiana, we are 45 minutes from downtown New Orleans while offering the safety and amenities of small town life.
The training presents a balance between simulated locations with a variety of environmental conditions and manned scale models of cargo ships in a series of lakes with docking and currents and live factors such as wind and weather.

"Prof. Benedict a very interesting video by HS Wismar / Maritime Simulation Center Warnemünde ( MSCW) & Innovative Ship Simulation and Maritime Systems GmbH (ISSIMS). Excellent and understandable the dynamic effects of the forces and moments in turning circle explained. A really good illustration for students, nautical officer and Captains to lead them to the dynamic basics and to refresh the knowldege. I can only recommend this video. Thanks for sharing."

Editors Note:
For people in Europe and in the days of a general me-too debate, it may seem a little strange that a male captain meets a female pilot and seems to ignite a romance.

There must be many more female pilots, but cooperation on the bridge must be professional, especially from the male colleagues.
I am sure that the creators of the video want to show that it is unprofessional if the captain and the pilot do not fully concentrate on their important work.

Video Physical Pilot Ladder Simulator (Chile)

by Maritime Innovation Center Chile

This physical ladder simulator was design for crew training in the ladder arrangement and for all the users especially for pilots.
We think that it will be a very important complement for IMO Assembly Resolution A.1045(27) and SOLAS, Chapter V, Safety of Navigation, Regulation 23.
It was present in the 10th Latin-American Pilot Forum in Montevideo in September 2019.

Video Pilot Boat Capsize Test

posted on YouTube by "Marine Online"

Capsizing or keeling over occurs when a boat or ship is turned on its side or it is upside down in the water. The act of reversing a capsized vessel is called righting. If a capsized vessel has enough flotation to prevent sinking, it may recover on its own if it is not stable inverted. Vessels of this design are called self-righting.
