We’re proud to show how, thanks to the boundless commitment of local company staff, our port can remain up and running. In this first instalment of the #Portheroes series, we show how Rotterdam’s pilots are working hard to keep everything ‘business as usual’ in the port. Video A Pilot Underway To Work

Found on YouTube. Created by "The Rotterdam Pilot"

It’s not always calm seas, helicopters and fast speedboats. In the third weekend storm this year, the pilot embarks MV VERA D by fast launch craft of the Pilot Station Vessel PROCYON. It takes professional teamwork by Pilotboat crew, the ship VERA D and VTS to board these ships in the harshest conditions in a violent Northsea. Well done and thanks to all players involved!

Surveys into pilot ladder safety consistently reveal that unacceptably high numbers of pilot transfer arrangements are not compliant with the regulations.

Video Handling a mid size container ship

Found on YouTube. Created by "SMR Pilot"

"Mizar" is a 165 LOA containership, which follows a liner route between the caribbean and the US.
It has a fixed pitch propeller and a bow thruster, which makes it easier to handle. This maneuver consisted of basically just pulling her off the dock and then doing a 160 turn.
