Throughout the business, safety is our top priority. We have an unwavering commitment to the safety of our employees and operations across the globe, ensuring that we have the best systems and procedures in place. In line with this commitment, we are pleased to have upgraded our Pilot Portable Units (PPUs) in Jebel Ali with the latest technologies. With both vessel size and traffic at ports and seaways increasing, technology is becoming indispensable for keeping people safe and supporting decision-making onboard a vessel under pilotage.

The PPUs are made by TRENZ and supported by Wärtsilä software, and with their lightweight and compact design, they are designed to assist our pilots with their navigation during pilotage. Equipped with impressive and precise technology, such as up-to-date charts, our pilots can make more informed decisions and minimise risks by using reliable, real-time data.

We look forward to hearing from our pilots in Jebel Ali about their experiences using these devices. We continue to integrate the latest technology into our safety procedures and upgrade the PPUs used in other regions.

However, assessments will raise questions by lawyers if something goes wrong. They will use tools to calculate what really is needed with respect to tug power and number of tugs.
