ProfileThe Port of Belize Limited has invested three million dollars to acquire a 55 foot highly specialized vessel purchased in Chesapeake Virginia. Christened “Oliver 108” named after PBL former Chief Marine Pilot Oliver Estell who passed away in 2010. The vessel is to be used to transport the Port’s Marine Pilots, who have to go out at the height of the night to pilot in the big ships coming in to the Port of Belize Ltd.
To mark this memorable moment Mrs. Darlene Estell (Mr. Estell’s Widow) and two sons were invited to share this occasion with the company Mr. Estell devoted his career to from 1984 until the time of his passing.
Keeping up with the momentous occasion the Port introduced the four new additions to its fleet of pilots namely: Vallan Hendy, Mark Rodriguez, Dorian Young and Henry Locke who all recently received their marine license. They were presented with their official Marine Pilots name tags and congratulated on their accomplishments. On an added note Mr. Henry Locke is following in a long family tradition of pilots as his great grandfather, grandfather-Mr. Louis Locke former Chief Marine Pilot, Grand Uncle William Locke and Uncle Ralph Locke (current PBL- Chief Marine Pilot). The Port commends you all on your accomplishments.
PBL continues to strive for excellence in all aspects to continue to provide and Meet all your National & International Trade Needs.
