Officialy inaugurated on the 16th of July 2010, MaritimeMT is run by MMRTC Society Co-operative Ltd, the training arm of the Malta Maritime Pilots Cooperative Society.

To keep abreast with the technological advancement in the sector, the cooperative invests heavily in training. Co-financed by EU Funds, National Funds and Private Funds, the training centre encompasses two of the most advanced full mission bridge simulators in Europe. These simulator are used for ship-handling training, as well as, to make risk assessments related to the large vessels that make use of the Maltese ports.

MaritimeMT is DNVGL Certified and has full accreditation from Transport Malta. A number of courses for pilots and the local Maritime Industry have been carried out in conjunction with Glasgow Nautical College.
