Pilot Boat Specifications

The main purpose of the proposed new Boat is to replace the old one which has been suspended from operation due to its deteriorating condition and is due for replacement. The safety of the Pilots and crew during transfers from and to the incoming ships is paramount hence the urgent need for a replacement.

Proposed General Specifications:

LOA - 12 meters plate aluminium Pilot Boat (usual layout of single cabin at deck level).
Beam moulded - 3 -4 meters
Draft moulded - 1 – 1.5 meters
Crewing - four (4) persons
Captain & Pilot Chairs
Outboard Engines - 2 x 4-stroke 300hp Yamaha
Steering power hydraulic
Top Speed - 30 – 40 knots

A Japanese bulk carrier that has spilled more than 1,000 tons of oil since running aground off the coast of Mauritius has broken in two. Officials said the split was caused by a crack in a cargo hold, after the ship's condition deteriorated severely overnight. The smart fairway digitalization pilot is a part of the EMMA Extension project that is funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme. This summer, 34 smart buoys were installed in the Saimaa deep fairway, which is Finland’s most important inland waterway for merchant shipping.
Safety is enhanced in particular by the fact that the pilots and VTS can adjust the light output of beacons and the rhythm of lights to support the navigation of vessels in poor visibility and weather conditions....
