PFMBlue installed on pilot vessel in one of the world most remote ports.

published on 13 June 2022 140 -

Lyttelton Port Company Limited (LPC) are the operators of the largest Port in the South Island of New Zealand, have chosen PFMBlue´s GP16B to be installed, one for each 412 KW engine on the 2016 delivered “Awaroa”, a Pantocarene ORC 156 Self-righting design, that has proven in many regions of the world to be very fit for purpose design, with many being built by Hart Marine Ltd of Melbourne Australia.

This design is also now being built for water borne police services.
The install of the units on the 30 Knot capable vessel was to address the issue of fuel moisture damaging the injector nozzles of the engines.

As a pilot vessel is required to deliver and retrieve harbour pilots, ensuring that the port operators shipping schedule adhered to and ship passage through the specific areas of high vessel traffic and/or hazardous conditions it is essential for them to be supported by a reliable Pilot Vessel so they can board and discharge from a vessel on time, safely and efficiently once the vessel has reached the designated safe areas.

Video Refusing to board due to a pilot ladder not rigged correctly

published on 20 June 2025

Truly an unsuitable method of securing the ladder. Retrieval line was also not above the first spreader
After pulling out the pilot boat, the ship was contacted by VHF and the captain was asked to instruct the crew in the usage of ropes and...
