The Pacific Guardian pilot boat is first seen in Victoria Harbour near Ogden Point before making her way to Point Hope Maritime Shipyard for a full refit. This video captures the entire move process, from the cradle lowering into the harbour, to the careful docking of the vessel, to her move across the turntable and onto the spur line. Some of the footage has been sped up, since the cradle lowering and lifting are slow, deliberate operations where every movement is checked and rechecked. You’ll also catch glimpses of scaffolding going up and power washing beginning as preparations are made for the major refit work ahead.

A special shout-out goes to the amazing team at Point Hope Maritime Shipyard. Their docking crews, scaffolding teams, pressure washers, naval architects, and refit specialists make moves like this possible, combining skill and precision to bring the Pacific Guardian safely into the yard. This behind-the-scenes look is a tribute to their incredible work.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge that this footage was captured on the unceded territory of the Lekwungen people of the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations.
