PNG Ports Corporation has christianed the Siabo, the first in a series of five pilot boats, each worth seven million Kina.

The pilot boats are part of PNG Ports’ re-fleeting plan to satisfy the demands of its clients, to meet international standards.

State Enterprises Minister, William Duma commended PNG Ports for its consistency in producing outstanding results.

Built by Luke Powell and his working Sail Yard in Truro, Cornwall, launched in February 2020. The lines were taken from the Vincent, a Falmouth Pilot cutter built in 1852 for the Vincent family of St Mawes. Here’s a cool little video we made during the sea trials of ‘Belgrano’ a new Interceptor 48 pilot for Montevideo, Uruguay. We captured some really nice drone footage of her offshore in some breaking seas and alongside ship manoeuvres, testing out her pilot boarding ladder and new fender system.
