The Car Carrier Golden Ray was lost on Sunday September 8, 2019 when transiting the Saint Simons Sound at the Port of Brunswick, Georgia. The rescue, investigation and salvage that followed were all incredibly complex.

In the second of our series focusing on ‘Our people at ports’, we catch up with Pierre Chays, our Marine Safety Manager and Pilot who gives us a behind the scenes look at what our Harbours Team is doing during these difficult times in supporting the movement of essential freight services in and out of the Island. The innovative and newly set up ship builder Wallaby Boats GmbH (WB), based in Kappeln,
Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, has decided in the investment to build the world’s first crew transfer
vessel/daughter craft (CTV/DC) with a suspension system.

want to give them more attention in this article. They proved to be the cause of a whole series of accidents, some of which were even fatal.
