@Louis Vest - I'm sure the investigators would have access to the VDR data downloaded after the accident. This has been compiled only from the AIS data so lacks all the info needed to arrive at a clear conclusion.

Would be helpful to investigators if rudder angle information was part of the display. Also wind speed and direction. Without those it will be difficult to really know much about how she was being affected by bank effect and/or wind. Position and speed alone don't tell the whole picture.

In B.C. waters, oil tanker spill prevention depends on locally operated escort tugboats and expert local marine pilots, who safely guide tankers in and out of port. Med Marine and IBK Ltd. signed a two-vessel contract for MED-P16 series last November for Nigerian Ports Authority’s operations in Lagos, Nigeria. A year after that, Nigerian Ports Authority takes the delivery of the two high- quality pilot boats. Both units have been despatched on a specialised transport vessel to Nigeria from Turkey.
