These boats are out in rough weather if need be, to keep the shipping moving. Columbia is only a 300m long 48m wide vessel, only 9200 TEU capacity but it has separate bridge tower and chimney. The ship was built in 2015.

This is a required procedure, as per US Maritime Laws, all international freighters must be piloted in and out of a US harbor by a US Captain.
