Marine-Pilots.com says thank you for more than 44,000 page views in 7 weeks!

by Marine-Pilots.com - published on 3 December 2019 169 -

It all started with the idea and vision of a large community of Marine Pilots, bringing people and organisations together. A web portal that gathers all the information for the pilot industry, makes all the stakeholders visible and gives the world's pilots an opportunity to exchange ideas among themselves.

Our Kick-Off
In October 2019 we dared to kick-off with Marine-Pilots.com. We didn't know exactly what resonance we would get worldwide, even though the feedback on our vision alone was always positive. We think that the idea of Marine-Pilots.com is something completely new, which did not exist so far and to this extent in the area of pilotage.

Our Strategy
Since we are the first to start such a community, we chose a strategy that we have maintained until now: We are listening to the pilots and are focusing on their needs. We take up their ideas, try to develop them further, but we don't want to program everything down to the last detail. We are testing our implementations at an early stage in the community and gather feedback from them.

We are adapting the feedback very quick on our website and we are taking up all the new ideas, the Pilots have in mind while using Marine-Pilots.com.
We do want an agile and collaborative development of the web portal that develops continuously and does offer a higher benefit with new features and more information each month.

Only with your support we can grow, improve and develop
Without the support of the Marine Pilots Community, Marine-Pilots.com cannot improve optimally. We are thankful about your ideas and content in the form of articles, texts, pictures and videos, which can be discussed frankly in the community.

The next important milestone: The comment function comes
Soon it will be possible to comment on articles and videos at Marine-Pilots.com. We are focusing and importance to an open and fair discussion, which we are going to moderate of course. We will intervene if the rules of good communication are violated. But we are also hoping and looking forward that the community that will moderate and regulate itself, even if there are different opinions on the same topic. Lively discussions and lots of different opinions are expressly desired! One says in Germany: The head is round so that thinking can change direction.

On our own behalf:
So far at Marine-Pilots.com we are not trained nauticals or practicing pilots. But we have been accompanying pilots for over 8 years with the development of software and hardware. We have been working for years to making the work of a Marine Pilot safer and more efficient by using the new possibilities of digitalisation. We are experts in questions of digitalisation and have also expertise in pilotage. Nevertheless, we are increasingly dependent on technical input from the community and will be looking for pilots as moderators for certain topics in the future. For example, we are looking forward to retired pilots who are interested and do not feel too old for new tasks and who would like to help shaping the future of Marine-Pilots.com in order to gain a permanent place in the community. At the beginning of the year I will inform you in more detail if we need any skills here and what kind of cooperation might be like.

Let's get to the facts and the measurable success of Marine-Pilots.com:
In the first 7 weeks after the launch, nearly 7,000 visitors called up more than 44,000 pages! This is a sensational value for the beginning, which surprised us ourselves.
We take this is a clear sign of the community that apparently appreciates our offer. This is a great valuation of our work and we say thank you to the community! We are not where we want to be yet, but we work every day to become better and better. In this way, all stakeholders such as the individual pilot, pilot organisations, associations and the industry are expressly invited to provide us with their feedback and wishes.

Best regards
Frank Diegel
CEO of Marine-Pilots.com
