It has been exactly one year ago that a pilot from Sandy Hook (New York), Dennis Sherwood, died in the line of duty while attempting to board the container vessel Maersk Kensington.
What has happened since then? Has safety been improved for the pilots?

The Port of Klaipeda in Lithuania has placed an order for two pilot boats in a series to be built by Estonia-based Baltic Workboats. The contract for the vessels has an estimated value of €6.5 million (US$7 million).

On july 1st, the 327 meters long bulk carrier SHINWA MARU entered Port of Rotterdam with 20,6 meters draft, underway to EECV terminal at the Caland channel, Europoort. Due to her draft she transited the Eurochannel.
