Grounding container vessel Shahraz and MV Samudra Sakti in Singapore Strait May 10 2020

What happened?

MV "Shahraz" and MV "Samudra Sakti I" had run aground to the shallow Batu Berhanti in the Indonesian territorial waters within 6 minutes, which is surveyed with minimum water depths of 8.3 m in the northern part and up to 0.5 m in the southern part . It is located south of TSS Singapore Strait’s eastbound traffic lane.

A chain of events which must be described as extra ordinary rarity. Which naturally raises questions about how may this happen..

There are four main dangers which cause alteration to stbd at this point baru beranti.1.the sudden crossing traffic in adjacent precautionary area specially container ships.2.dur to very narrow seperation zone the opposite head on traffic sometimes crosses the separation zone 3. Strong set or tidal streams during spring tide which can go even up to 4 to 5 knots. And slowing down will increase the drift a lot4. Dense fishing traffic which sometimes feels like organised pirates moving in groups to slow down ships for a chance of robbery.not sure which one triggered the cause for deviation
