The tugboat "Magni" in Reykjavik (Iceland) use as pilot boat to pick up the pilot from the cruise ship "FTI Berlin". "Magni" was built by Damen shipyards in Gorinchem (Netherlands). Safehaven Marine have launched another new Pilot boat, there 20th Interceptor 48 and 46th pilot vessel overall for the River Plate pilots in Montevideo, Uruguay. ‘Belgrano’ named after the famous Argentine general, will operate on the River Plate estuary, also famous for being the place of the first naval battle during the second world war, where the German battle cruiser, the Admiral Graf Spee was scuttled.

What is the right job title for a pilot?
In English the term "pilot" can be misunderstood, because a "pilot" could also be the captain of an airplane. The terms "Marine Pilot" or "Maritime Pilot" describe more precisely that the pilot of a ship and not of an aircraft is meant. If we only write "pilot" on our page, then we always mean the pilot of a vessel.
